May 20, 2010 update:
In June 2010 construction on the Hamilton Mason Road Intersection of the By-Pass will begin. When this occurs, the west portion of Hamilton Mason Road will be closed until approximately November of 2010. See traffic detours for this section of the project.

April 2010 update:
On April 7th, Government Officials met to put the first shovels in the ground at the southern portion of the highly anticipated $32.2 million multi-phase Bypass Ohio 4 improvement project. Over the next three years, this project will construct six lanes from Symmes to Tylersville roads, which will go down to four lanes just South of the 129 bridge. Three Bypass intersections- Symmes, Tylersville, and Hamilton-Mason roads will be transformed into U-turn concept intersections known as "super streets." As many businesses have acknowledged that the current Bypass needs to be fixed, this three year construction project may create some additional traffic issues for your business and employees. With over 50 businesses being directly impacted, the importance of the Bypass 4 improvements to current and future economic development cannot be overstated!
In the "super street" design vehicles on the main road use the conventional lanes, while through traffic and left-turning from side streets use median U-turns. The design’s main benefit is that it makes it easy for drivers on the main road (Bypass 4) to continue getting green lights at intersections, thus reducing stops and delays. In the “super street” design, a driver for instance westbound on Hamilton-Mason Road in order to continue west on that road would (1) turn right, or northbound, onto the Bypass, (2) progress to the left median crossover, (3)make a left U-turn onto the southbound Bypass lanes and (4) then turn right at Hamilton-Mason. Through traffic on the Bypass would continue without turns.

During this entire three year construction period, the Chamber's website will be your source to learn the latest on the communication related to this project. Questions your business may have about this project will be answered on our website. These questions include:
• Will any roads be closed during construction?
• How will the “super street” intersection work when complete?
• What will the traffic patterns be during construction?
• Will there be detours during construction?
• Who do I contact for specific questions during construction?

Please feel free to contact the Chamber with any questions about the Bypass 4 project. In 2008, the Chamber held a meeting with interested businesses to learn more about the design of the Bypass improvement plan. We plan on holding periodic meetings with businesses in the Bypass 4 area to communicate updates as major phases of this project begin. Also, visit the Butler County TID for more information.

The Chamber is your advocate when dealing with difficult issues that impact your business. We know that there will be some pain and hardships associated with the construction of the Bypass 4 improvement project. When complete, we trust that the result will lead to a better transportation plan for you and your employees. For more information on this project, visit our website at www.hamilton-ohio.com. Thanks for your partnership!
